Our next Brittany love is Rocky. Rocky was an owner surrender to the Genesee County Humane Society in Batavia, NY. He is five years old, an had never set foot in a house before he came to us. He was a kennel dog, probably used for hunting or breeding, or both. He basically lived outdoors on a concrete slab with a dog house. His owner was an older gentleman that felt he couldn't take care of Rocky any more because his health was failing, and turned him in to the shelter.
I went to Batavia with the premise of "just looking", and of course he came home with me that day. Rocky is as sweet a dog as anyone could ever hope for. Even with the terrible life he had, cooped up in a outdoor kennel, summer, winter spring & fall, he has the best attitude I have ever seen in a Brittany. He just wanted to be loved, hang out with his peeps, and let you know that he appreciated it.
Our short time with the Rock wasn't totally uneventful. Haaving been an outdoor dog, he did have some potty issues that we needed to clear up, and yes, he had his share of accidents. Thanks Rock for making us get the bedroom carpet cleaned! It needed it anyways...
Rocky made a great first impression on his new parents. He basically just made himself at home, laid down on the living room floor and took a nap! Talk about a laid-back dog! I was sure he had found a home when he expressed his desire to just stay right there on the floor for the rest of the day.
Rocky was adopted close to home, and he is doing great! He has lots of land to run on, and is trained on Invisible fence now. I hear from his "mom" a lot, and I know that they love him. So far, his presence has been the most pleasant we have had in our fostering career, we can only hope for more like him!
